For a long time, I have had a goal to circumnavigate around the globe during one trip. So, over the past several years I have been saving up and spending countless hours planning for this trip of a life time. My boyfriend Luke and I will be departing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the USA at the beginning of February 2019 and returning home February 2020.

We are both 25 years old and feel that now is the perfect time to see the world before we both get too far into our careers. I’m sure that the lessons we learn during this year of travel will last a life time. Because of all the books in the world, the best stories are found between between the pages of a passport.

Our Itinerary

Currently, our trip has 18 countries during a 12 month period. We will be hitting 5 out of the 7 continents on the globe (sorry South America and Antartica, I will get to you one day!). We will be staying in hostels, guest houses, a camper van and even a tiny house! Taking planes, trains, cars, ferries, buses, boats, bikes and taxis to get us around the world.

We have planned the trip to be flexible while in the less expensive countries, so after June the order in which we visit the listed countries might change. And once we are in Europe we are surely going to be hopping from country to country, we just are not sure which ones yet.

Our Budget

We have planned a $50 a day per person budget for our trip, which equals to $18,250 for the entire year per person. This will fluctuate between $70 a day per person in more expensive countries like New Zealand and Australia and $30 a day per person in cheaper countries like Philippines and Vietnam. Our budget will also include the points and miles we have saved from different credit cards from our year working in America.

Our Goals

During this trip of a life time we hope to develop a better understanding of the world around us. We will be visiting so many different types of cultures, everyday will be an eye opening experience. I want to take time to enjoy every moment and truly be mindful of our time in all of these locations. We are so fortunate to have been able to save enough to make this trip happen and I just want to relish in all of the moments, good and bad. We are looking forward to the adventures that will come with a year dedicated to travel.
